Characteristics
Peanut butter flavored soft snacks aid digestion and promote natural emptying of the anal glands. Glandex® is a supplemental food for dogs to minimize perianal gland problems. The unique Glandex® formula is a scientific breakthrough that quickly and effectively resolves perianal gland problems in dogs, plus the supplement's action is far more effective than manually squeezing the perianal sinuses. The composition of Glandex® is composed in a way that allows it to act 'from the inside' - direct the glands, and in addition, supports the natural emptying of the sinuses.
What are the perianal glands?
These are two glands located in the perianal sinuses, located on either side of the anus. The glands produce a viscous and liquid secretion, with a very unpleasant smell, which in a healthy dog, through thin tubules is emptied spontaneously during defecation. Sometimes, however, it happens that the perirectal sinuses, for various reasons, do not empty regularly. In this case, consult your veterinarian as soon as possible.
Cause
The most common causes of problems with proper emptying of the paranasal sinuses are soft or loose stools, digestive problems, allergies, infections, obesity, poor anatomy or a combination of several causes at the same time.Overcrowding and inflammation of the paranasal sinuses cause discomfort and pain, which can then cause other health problems. Symptoms associated with perianal gland problems can vary from one dog to another. The most common symptoms are: tobogganing (rubbing the anus against the ground, furniture or trees), excessive licking of the anal area, problem with defecation, unpleasant odor, pain, bleeding or swelling in the anal area.
